Surgical facelift
Definition of a facelift
A skin excision is a surgical procedure that aims to remove or reduce excess skin in the area between the lower eyelids and jaws.
Types of facelift operations
There are two types of facelifts categorized according to what you want to achieve from this surgery and the degree of sagging of the skin.
1. Conventional facelift (SMAS)
The surgeon will choose this type of surgery to treat moderate to advanced sagging cases. However, it is usually more complicated than the other type, which takes longer to complete the surgery and to heal.
2. Mini Facelift (MACS)
Your surgeon will recommend this procedure if your skin is in the initial stages of sagging. It can help treat signs of aging before they become deeper and more noticeable and delay the need for a traditional face-lift.
How is the procedure done?
The procedure varies depending on the type of surgery you need.
If you are going to have conventional surgery:
The surgeon will make incisions on both sides of your face, behind the hairline around your ears.
Then they cut under the deeper layer of tissue
Next, they will pull the skin towards your ears and remove any excess skin.
In the final step, the surgeon will close the skin with sutures.
